pianodiscordian I first heard 'Slope' on the John Peel show and fell in love with it. I went straight out and bought 'Pumpkin Head' on vinyl, and was lucky enough to see The Pushkins live soon after.

'Pumpkin Head' has remained one of my favourite albums since, still getting regular plays 20 years on. Finding it on Bandcamp allowed me to replace my battered and crackly vinyl! Favorite track: Slope.

about

Recorded at Purple Rain studios, Great Yarmouth with Richard Hammerton and released on Jawbone Records.

Richard was not in a good way at the time because he was breaking up with his girlfriend and he kept disappearing to meet her helicopter at the helipad... at least that's what he told us. It meant we got quite a free hand recording the album though and got to try a lot of stuff out. He let us sleep on the studio floor too which was good because as ever we were completely broke.

When we mastered it at Abbey Road, we got the engineer to write 'brewed in Southeast London' on the run-out groove...
